The works comprise the major refurbishment of the five catheter labs on the 1st Floor Atkinson Morley Wing. These are phased works inside an operational theatre environment and include the installation of new air handling units, electrical, mechanical services and new medical gases services, improvements to the existing lead lining; new flooring and lighting and replacement of shower rooms.

The works also include Dirty Utility / WC, drainage and all associated building works; theatre recovery, patients’ bedrooms, examination rooms, toilets, staff spaces, support space, offices, circulation and entrance facilities, some demolition and modification to services, including the installation of new mechanical and medical gases, installation of new fire doors, where specified, and additional compartmentation and all associated builders works.

Craneage was required for the lifting of the chillers (weight approximately 3 tons) and AHU. Drainage works were fully co-ordinated with the Trust within occupied and operational areas. Noise and vibration was carefully managed due to the close proximity of neighbouring wards and MRI Department above.
