Royal Free Hospital 3NA Scheme
Third floor adjacent Theatres Recovery – There was an existing 8 bed HDU and ancillary area off Theatre Recovery which was used as Recovery overflow which was isolated and refurbished providing bed foot pendants, bed hoists, medical gas, power resilience and improved ancillary areas being added to existing bays.
In addition, the department is being extended and an existing (hand clinic) area was converted to increase bed capacity to form a new 12bed ITU area (total 20nr beds) with ancillary rooms.
This project is split into two Stages. Stage 1 – isolation and strip out of the works, followed by the occupation of the area to treat Covid patients, and a progressive development with smooth transition into Stage 2 – Fit Out of new area, with all ancillary services, new room and staff areas, fire and life safe services, new finishes and plant and equipment.
The project was fast track with 24/7 working, and undertaken successfully during COVID 19 pandemic.
