RMH MR Linac Sutton

PROJECT

RMH MR Linac Sutton

Excavation and creation of a new 10.5m deep concrete bunker to house MR Linac

£4.1m

The project consisted the diversion of existing drainage runs, followed by the formation of a contiguous piled wall with the excavation of the new bunker to a depth of approximately 10.5m.  This formed the new reinforced concrete bunker and ancillary areas for the new MR Linac scheme.

The new concrete bunker was linked into the existing Radiology Department in designed locations, along with the linking-in of services to the existing building. The bunker also received a new mezzanine floor level which houses the new plant.

The services fed down into the bunker suite via the service ducts.  The new MR Linac cage and associated treatment plant were installed by the appointed specialist (Elekta).  The construction work progressed in the back-up areas as the services were brought on line and commissioned.
