Frimley Park Hospital ICU
The construction of a double storey extension within an existing courtyard to extend the ICU department. Works consist of excavation, forming new drainage/services, foundations, new concrete slab, steel frame construction, roof works and formation of new plant room to house the new AHU serving the ICU.
The current ICU B side and Phase 1 were completed March 2022, prior to commencement of ICU A side. Works within the existing building envelope include the total strip out of all services to facilitate the roof strengthening works, asbestos removal and concrete repairs before reinstatement of new services, partitions, floors and ceilings remodelling the ICU areas.
FF&E services installation, including the replacement of the ICU department main supply and extract air handling units, and upgrading of the ventilation ductwork distribution system, to meet the criteria set by the Trust for the ventilation of the proposed refurbished ICU Department.
The works are phased in order that the ICU Department can be kept operational throughout the contract period. Connections to or modifications of existing services have been co-ordinated with programmed shutdowns, to avert any disruption to the day-to-day functioning of the hospital.
