Charing Cross Hospital 8th Floor

PROJECT

Charing Cross Hospital 8th Floor

South Ward required general refurbishment and compliance upgrades

£2.8m

The existing level 8 South Ward required general refurbishment and compliance upgrades, both in terms of fire safety and healthcare standards. The project involved demolitions, full refurbishment / reconfigurations, notably to provide additional ensuite facilities.

This was a live facility and construction was split into 2 main phases. Some rooms are important to both phases and works to these were required to be carried out quickly, with details agreed with the Trust.

Fire compartmentation was improved. A new sub-compartment was introduced. Rooms and risers / shafts previously not fire rated were upgraded. There was also extensive asbestos removal.
